Warm Welcome for President Williams

UC students, faculty and staff were joined by the Bearcat Bands, the mascot, the dance team, cheerleaders, as well as Lucy the binturong and Thane Maynard from the Cincinnati Zoo, in giving a spirited welcome to UC’s 27th president, Gregory H. Williams, as he arrived for his first day on job.

Student Government President Tim Lolli welcomed President Williams on behalf of the entire UC community. President Williams, in turn, thanked everyone for showing up on a brisk morning.

“We have a worldclass faculty, incredible students and we’re a top-25 public research university. My goal is to build on the great momentum because  I know that every one here wants the University of Cincinnati to be the best it can be.”  The president said he looked forward to working with everyone to achieve that goal and to getting down to work. His wife, Sara, joined him at the arrival ceremony.

After the welcoming rally, the president held his first President’s Cabinet meeting, met with the Faculty Senate Cabinet and with the Student Government prior to meeting with UC Athletics Director Mike Thomas, coaches and senior athletics staff and then headed off to his first Big East Conference meetings.
